Professional Development: Certified Interpretive Guide Program - Crafting Meaningful Experiences About this Course Join the Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) program and dive into the world of interpretive programs. This course is for anyone keen on learning how to create and lead engaging programs. It covers the history, definitions, and principles of interpretation, helping you develop the skills to make your programs purposeful, enjoyable, relevant, organized, and thematic (POETRY). Course Options There are two ways to take this course: 1. Standard Course Take the course without getting the CIG certificate. Perfect if you just want to learn without official certification. 2. Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) Take the course and add the CIG certificate. This adds a bit more to the cost but comes with a complimentary one-year membership. If you're already an NAI member, your membership gets extended. Registration Details Course Fee: $235 CIG Certificate Add-on: $165 (Note: CIG registration includes a free one-year membership; existing NAI members get an extension.) Schedule The class mixes teaching, discussions, work time, coaching, and breaks to avoid screen fatigue: - January 3rd-5th, 2024: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. MDT Instruction and work time. - January 8, 2024: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. MDT Instruction, one-on-one coaching, and in-class work time. - January 9, 2024: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. MDT Final presentations. Note: The schedule includes two individual coaching sessions for your final presentation. You must attend all sessions, including presentations by others on the last day if you want the CIG certificate. The course uses Zoom, Padlet, and Google Drive. Instructor Your instructor through this course is Monique Thompson, the leader behind RaindropNaturalist. Monique is passionate about creating programs that connect communities and promote inclusivity. She leads outdoor programs in Fort Collins, focusing on the environment and personal well-being.
